A month ago, it looked like the Pittsburgh Steelers would have several quarterback options at the No. 20 overall pick.
But in recent weeks, we've seen multiple quarterbacks shoot up draft boards as a result of strong combine performances and strong Pro Days.
The latest mock draft from NFL.com's Chad Reuter has five quarterbacks being selected in the top 14.
And he has the Steelers as one of the teams taking a quarterback early.
Reuter predicts that Pittsburgh will trade up to No. 12 and take Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback Desmond Ridder.
The Steelers make a move to secure their quarterback of the future by making a deal with the Vikings that's similar to what the Bears gave to the Giants last year, sending away their 2023 first-round pick and swapping Day 3 selections. Ridder has a tall pocket presence but also possesses the athleticism to make plays outside the pocket.

Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin recently attended Ridder's Pro Day, so there's definitely some interest here from Pittsburgh.
I think if the Steelers are going to trade up for a quarterback, they should go all out and make a trade with the Detroit Lions for the No. 2 pick so they can grab Liberty quarterback Malik Willis. I think he has the most uspide of any quarterback in this draft class.
Ridder, though, has a high ceiling. I like him better at No. 20, but if a run on quarterbacks happens and Pittsburgh feels pressure to land a quarterback, this could be a "cheaper" move than trading all the way up to No. 2.
