New Steelers wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. has a bold prediction regarding what’s next for quarterback Aaron Rodgers
Michael Pittman Jr. has a take on Aaron Rodgers and his future.
While the NFL Draft is officially less than a month away, the Pittsburgh Steelers still have a giant question mark at the quarterback position. The last we heard, Aaron Rodgers said that he was nowhere close to making a decision and that he needed time to determine his next step.
But over the weekend, Rodgers played host to a flag football tournament, where he and fellow Steelers quarterback Will Howard put on a good show. The newest WR in Pittsburgh, Michael Pittman Jr., joined the Up and Adams Show with Kay Adams to discuss that tournament and give a prediction on what he believes will happen with Rodgers.
Michael Pittman believes Aaron Rodgers still wants to play
“So I’m trying to give him space, you know, because Aaron’s a guy, he likes his space,” Pittman told Adams via YouTube. “He likes to get refreshed. I didn’t want to just get signed and then blow him up and be like, ‘Hey, Aaron. Like, what’s the deal?’”
“I’m just giving him time, he will decide if he wants to come back or not, but the fact that he’s still out doing, flag football and all that… I think that he wants to play. Just knowing Aaron prior to this, I just think that he’s gonna try and play as long as he can.”
What do the Steelers do if Aaron Rodgers doesn’t return?
The obvious answer for the Steelers is to give Howard a shot or explore an option in the NFL Draft. There is a real chance that Ty Simpson is gone before the Steelers are even on the board and Simpson is polarizing to say the least.
It may feel like a lot to just give the keys to Howard and the Steelers will carry more than two quarterbacks on their roster, so perhaps a different veteran is in store if it isn’t Rodgers. Adam Schefter has an idea on who that may be.
Adam Schefter floats Kirk Cousins as a potential option for the Steelers
“Pittsburgh wants Aaron Rodgers back, and if he wants to come back the job is his,” said Schefter on the Pat McAfee Show. “If he doesn’t want to play I think Kirk Cousins would be a logical pivot.”
There is only one person who knows what Rodgers will do, and that’s the man himself. In the meantime, all options remain on the table, including a potential reunion with a fourth-round pick that would make a lot of sense in Pittsburgh.
