NFL does exactly what you would expect with AFC North championship on the line between Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens
As you would expect, the Steelers and Ravens will be the marquee matchup in Week 18.
It all comes down to Week 18. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens will face off in a battle for the AFC North title. After the Ravens bludgeoned their way through the Green Bay Packers, the Steelers continued their trend of losing games in Cleveland.
The NFL won’t tell you this, but if you asked Roger Goodell and the schedule makers what they wanted from Week 17, it would have been a Ravens win and a Steelers loss, with a winner-take-all matchup during the final game of the regular season. Well, that’s exactly what they got.
Steelers vs. Ravens to play regular-season finale on Sunday Night Football
“If you really love this sport and you really love the game, you’ve got to be a competitor,” said inside LB Patrick Queen via Mike DeFabo on X-Twitter regarding the game against Baltimore.
One of the most storied rivalries in the NFL, it’s only fitting that a game that determines the division championship is how we wrap the regular season.
The last time the Steelers faced the Ravens, it was the best game of DK Metcalf’s first season in Pittsburgh, one where he recorded a season-high seven receptions and nearly 150 receiving yards. The problem is, the Steelers won’t have Metcalf after his two-game suspension.
On top of that, one of the few other reliable pass catchers, Darnell Washington, has a broken arm. A broken arm and a pass catcher mix together like oil and water. Time will tell if Lamar Jackson is back for the Ravens, but the Steelers have to score points, something they failed to do against Cleveland.
“I have full confidence we’ll go home and win next week, said Aaron Rodgers via the Steelers YouTube channel on Sunday. We’ve done it all season. We’ve handled adversity well. When we had to play our best ball, we did… other than today.”
Unfortunately, if you watched Steelers football long enough, you know Sunday’s game in Cleveland was the exact sort of game that they lose. Favorites on the road, Pittsburgh is a losing football team against the spread in those exact circumstances.
That’s all in the past now. Pittsburgh had a long bus ride home on Sunday afternoon, and they will have to take a few long looks in the mirror if they want to play another home game before September.
