This biggest question mark surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers this offseason is easily at the quarterback position.
With Ben Roethlisberger's retirement, it leaves Mason Rudolph as the Steelers' incumbent starting quarterback.
Opinions seem to be split on whether or moving forward with Rudolph as the starter in 2022 is the best option for Pittsburgh.
Supporters of Rudolph point to his 5-4-1 record as the Steelers' starting quarterback as evidence that he could be a solid option in 2022.
But that 5-4-1 record is a bit misleading.

Pittsburgh went 5-4-1 in Rudolph's starts in spite of him, not because of him.
The Steelers' defense carried the team in those wins. According to this stat dug up by Twitter user @Steelers_DB, Pittsburgh averaged only 1.50 points per drive during those 10 games, which would've ranked near the bottom of the NFL.
That stat doesn't exactly inspire confidence that Rudolph can be the answer for the Steelers next season.
Pittsburgh has a chance to be really good in 2022, thanks to their elite defense. But I'm not sure they can get there with Rudolph. Unfortunately, I don't think they can get there with a rookie quarterback, either.
That means the Steelers may need to look to the trade market for an upgrade.
It's a long shot, but if Pittsburgh could somehow land Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks, I think they would instantly become the favorites in the AFC North over the Cincinnati Bengals.
Or if they go the cheaper route and get someone like Kirk Cousins, it would still greatly increase their odds of making a deep playoff run.
Either way, I don't see Rudolph taking this team very far in 2022.
