NFL executive reveals that Aaron Rodgers’ biggest question mark with the Steelers may have already been answered
A good omen for the Steelers outlook.
Coming into 2025, the question around Aaron Rodgers was what would he look like mobility wise? Two years removed from the achilles injury, he might be pushing 42, but through a small sample size, the mobility of his time with the Green Bay Packers is back.
The games and tape have shown that, but it’s always good to hear from those in the league. That’s exactly what ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler provided, as an AFC scout told him that he sees the Rodgers of old.
“It was the Minnesota game in London [in Week 5] that marked about six to eight weeks of almost zero mobility due to injury,” an AFC scout told Fowler regarding Rodgers’ final season with the Jets. “He was compromised, and it showed. But just being [another] year removed [from the Achilles tear], he seems a little bit more secure and a little less hesitant compared to a year ago.”
Aaron Rodgers looking better mobility wise
Week 1 was a revelation for Rodgers both on film and via the stat column. Week 2? Not so much. After completing 73 percent of his passes and throwing four touchdowns compared to zero interceptions, Rodgers and the Steelers offense came back to Earth against the Seattle Seahawks.
But that doesn’t mean his mobility did.
That is an extremely impressive throw for a 21 year old to make, much less a soon to be 42 year old. Rodgers is not the problem. I know he hasn’t looked great under pressure and some of that is a combination of holding onto the ball too long and his line not protecting him.
But through two weeks, the film suggests he is back to his old ways. The ways that beat the Steelers in a Super Bowl when he was with the Packers? No. But the ways of when he last played for the cheeseheads? Absolutely.
And with so much going wrong on the defensive side of the ball, that is a sight for sore eyes and some optimism for what this team can still be in 2025.
