We have reached the midway point of the 2023 season and the Pittsburgh Steelers are in firm control of their own destiny.

Currently second in arguably the toughest division in the NFL, Pittsburgh is behind Baltimore in the AFC North, but they have the tiebreaker thus far.

Here's a look at the landscape of the AFC, and what the Steelers have coming up:

AFC Playoff Picture Before Week 10

Kansas City Chiefs (7-2) – 1st AFC West

Baltimore Ravens (7-2) – 1st AFC North

Jacksonville Jaguars (6-2) – 1st AFC South

Miami Dolphins (6-3) – 1st AFC East

Pittsburgh Steelers (5-3) – Wild Card

Cleveland Browns (5-3) – Wild Card

Cincinnati Bengals (5-3) – Wild Card

In the hunt:

Buffalo Bills (5-4)

Houston Texans (4-4)

Los Angeles Charges (4-4)

New York Jets (4-4)

Indianapolis Colts (4-5)

Las Vegas Raiders (4-5)

A Tight Race

As you can see, based on record alone, the difference between the top and the bottom of the AFC is extremely tight with half a year to go. Just to prove that, the Jets at 4-4 and currently situated as the 11th seed in the AFC, are merely one game out of a wildcard spot.

So with the parody at an all-time high in 2023, every game will matter, especially when you look at Pittsburgh's upcoming stretch of games:

With four total division games remaining, including both matchups with the Bengals, games like this Sunday vs. the Packers, as well as contests against the Cardinals, Patriots and Colts are basically must-wins at this point.

Cincinnati is surging and will be hard to slow down if healthy, with the Browns boasting one of the leagues best defenses and the Ravens being lauded as one of the leagues best teams.

The good news is, if Pittsburgh can manage to win the four games they should and pull out one or two of the remaining division games, that would give them a 10-7 or 11-6 record to close out the year, adding promise to their playoff hopes.

So It's all out in front of Pittsburgh at this point. The changes have been made, the hay is in the barn, and the offense could soon be at full strength, meaning it's now or never for the black and gold to make a run.
