Pro Football Focus thinks the Pittsburgh Steelers landed one of the biggest steals in the 2024 NFL Draft.
PFF pointed out the Steelers' selection of Michigan Wolverines wide receiver Roman Wilson in the third round as one of the draft's biggest steals.
From PFF: Wilson was in the conversation with the second tier of receivers in this class but fell to No. 84, giving the Steelers great value on a QB-friendly target who is also one of the best separators in the class.
A season ago, 26 of Wilson's 34 targets against single coverage were charted as “open,” leading to an absurd 99.9 receiving grade in those situations.
An easy projection to start Day 1 in the slot for Pittsburgh, Wilson should quickly establish himself as a trustworthy target who can help move the chains on key downs.
Wilson didn't have eye-popping numbers at Michigan — 48 receptions for 789 yards and 12 touchdowns this past season — but that's mostly because the Wolverines aren't a team that throws the ball around a lot.
Speaking of Michigan, the fact that Wilson played under Jim Harbaugh in Ann Arbor for four years should help the former Wolverines standout make an impact as a rookie. No one in college football runs more of a pro-style system than Harbaugh. Wilson should be ready to hit the ground running as soon as rookie minicamps get underway. It wouldn't be a shock to see him playing significant snaps for the Steelers this fall.

And while some needs still remain, the roster is nearly set for 2024, making now the perfect time to project what the team might look like on opening […]
