Pittsburgh claimed Miles Boykin off waivers after he was released by the Baltimore Ravens this past weekend.
Boykin, 6-foot-4/220 lbs, is a former third-round pick (2019) out of Notre Dame.
The former Notre Dame standout spent the first three years of his career with the Ravens. Boykin only played in eight games last season while battling injuries. He caught just one pass for six yards.
Boykin showed some potential in 2020, catching 19 passes for 266 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught 13 passes for 198 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie in 2019.
The Steelers currently have Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool at the top of the depth chart after letting JuJu Smith-Schuster walk in free agency.
Pittsburgh could still use another wide receiver as Boykin will serve as nothing more than depth for the Steelers in 2022 (if he makes the 53-man roster).
There are several quality free-agent options still out there that Pittsburgh could sign, including Jarvis Landry, Julio Jones, and Odell Beckham Jr (who is reocvering from a torn ACL).
