Pro Football Focus recently named the most likely players to be released by each NFL team this offseason and they went with a recent addition for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
PFF's Brad Spielberger thinks cornerback William Jackson is the Steelers' biggest "cut candidate".
At the very least, Spielberger expects Jackson's contract to be reworked this offseason, but a release is realistic as well.
Washington traded Jackson at the deadline after he expressed frustration with his deployment, and he was promptly placed on injured reserve with a back injury before taking a single snap in Pittsburgh.
The Steelers may find a way to keep Jackson on a reworked deal in 2023 after trading for him despite the expectation he was going to be waived, but it won’t be on his current contract.

Pittsburgh traded for Jackson, a former first-round pick, ahead of the trade deadline in November.
The Steelers sent a conditional 2025 sixth-round pick to the Washington Commanders for Jackson (Pittsburgh also received a conditional seventh-round pick in the deal).
Releasing Jackson should be an easy call. He never played for the Steelers last season as he was placed on injured reserve shortly after arriving in Pittsburgh.
If the Steelers release Jackson, they'll save $12 million in cap space with a $0 dead cap hit.
That seems like a no-brainer for a team that could use some cap space.
