The Pittsburgh Steelers officially promoted a longtime assistant coach on Monday.

Pittsburgh announced that Denzel Martin has been promoted from assistant outside linebackers coach to outside linebackers coach. The Steelers also hired Jason Brooks as a defensive quality control coach.

Martin is an interesting story. He's been with the Steelers since 2016 when he was hired as a scouting intern after working for a year and a half as a graduate assistant at Missouri, his alma mater.

Martin met Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin at a Pro Day at Mizzou and quickly built a great relationship with the future Hall of Fame coach.

After that Pro Day meeting, Martin was offered a position as a training camp intern with the Steelers in 2015. The former Mizzou standout has essentially had a connection to the Steelers for the last eight years.

I'm sure Martin's had other opportunities in the NFL and the collegiate level, but he remained loyal to the Steelers over the last several years and he was rewarded for that loyalty this week.

It's not just players that love working for Tomlin, it's coaches, too.
