What are the Pittsburgh Steelers going to do at quarterback in 2022?

That's a question we're all anxiously awaiting to see answered.

Pittsburgh could roll with Mason Rudolph in 2022 as their starter. They could sign or trade for a veteran. Or they could draft a rookie and let him start from day one.

OR, the Steelers could sign AND draft a quarterback and let the rookie sit for a year or two (or they could let the rookie sit behind Rudolph).

Plenty of possibilities as you can see.

The latest post-combine mock draft from The Athletic has Pittsburgh selecting a quarterback in the second round, presumably with the idea that he'll sit for at least a year.

They have the Steelers taking Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

(The Athletic has Pittsburgh taking Boston College offensive lineman Zion Johnson with the No. 20 overall selection.)

Corral didn't work out last week at the NFL scouting combine due to a high ankle sprain that he suffered in Rebels' loss to Baylor in the Sugar Bowl.

Interestingly, and I think Steelers fans will like this attitude, Corral told reporters last week that he didn't regret playing in the Sugar Bowl, despite the injury.

"They (NFL teams) asked if I regretted it, and I said, 'Absolutely not,'" said Corral (via ESPN). "I never thought about opting out…It was never a thought in my mind. I was going to play regardless."

Corral said he should be fully recovered soon from his injury.

If the Steelers can get Corral in the second round, it would feel like a steal. Opinions are varied on Corral, with some draft analysts feeling like he's a first-round pick, while others aren't as high on him (for reference, ESPN's Mel Kiper has Corral as the third-best quarterback in the draft, behind Pittsburgh's Kenny Pickett and Liberty's Malik Willis).

Corral is a tough player who would work well in the Steelers' culture. I think he'd be a good fit in Pittsburgh, but he's far from a sure thing (which is pretty much true of all the quarterbacks in this draft class).

Ultimately, I think this would be a nice selection for the Steelers.
