Week 1 of Pittsburgh Steelers football is officially here.

And while it's easy to get caught up in all the hoopla of the return of the NFL, there are important nuggets that are unveiled during the week.

One of those would be the depth chart, which has officially been released:

Rookies Ride the Pine

As you can see, not one 2023 draft pick is slated to start on Sunday, but that doesn't mean they won't see significant playing time, or even overtake those in front of them when it comes to snap counts.

I expect Keeanu Benton and Nick Herbig to see the most action, but Joey Porter Jr. could mix in as well.

New Faces in Familiar Places

Despite not naming a single rookie to the starting lineup, the Steelers will still boast eight new starters across the offense and defense, proving GM Omar Khan turned over a roster, yet is looking to compete in 2023 with the following new starters:

  • DB Chandon Sullivan
  • CB Patrick Peterson
  • S Keanu Neal
  • LB Elandon Roberts
  • LB Cole Holcomb
  • FB Connor Heyward
  • WR Allen Robinson
  • LG Isaac Seumalo

Now the nickel position may be Sullivan's for now, but recently acquired Desmond King could throw his hat into the ring as soon as week two, even if Sullivan has an offseason worth of experience in Pittsburgh's system.

Either way, he adds to the newness on this roster as we prepare to see what change brings to Pittsburgh in 2023.
