Steelers Day Three NFL Draft Pick Tracker

  • Round 4, Pick 119: Mason McCormick, OG, South Dakota State
  • Round 6, Pick 178: Logan Lee, DL, Iowa
  • Round 6, Pick 195: Ryan Watts, DB, Texas

Get to know Mason McCormick

  • Thick frame with long arms
  • Play strength & lower body flexibility to short-circuit power rushers
  • Skilled independent hand usage to redirect counter moves
  • Adequate slide quickness & recovery range to mirror cross-face moves
  • Rugged play style with a desire to finish every block
  • Torques & uproots linemen at the point of attack
  • Above average body control & spatial awareness at the 2nd level
  • Springs into the open field & decleats stationary targets as a puller
  • Opens hips & burrows gaping cutback lanes on the backside of stretch runs
  • Was one of the top performers at the Shrine Bowl & showed center versatility
-James Foster, A to Z Sports

Overall, McCormick doesn’t consistently play up to his testing numbers, but he has good eyes and feet in pass protection and outstanding physicality in the run game. He projects as a Day 1 backup (at all three interior line positions) who can become a starter with more coaching.

Dane Brugler, The Athletic

McCormick was one of the best players at this year's Shrine Bowl displaying the technique you would expect from an experienced player, yet more than holding his own in the athleticism department. Expect him to compete for starting reps come training camp.

Get to Know Logan Lee

  • Explosive & fluid athlete with playmaking potential
  • Reads the play immediately & keeps his eyes locked on the ball
  • Efficient punching & separating vs. down blocks
  • Has the pursuit speed & body control to finish plays in the backfield
  • Active hands to disorient down blocks
  • Lateral quickness to attack either edge & win leverage
  • Bludgeons the outside hand with an effective speed chop/swipe
  • Rapid transition from run defender to pass rusher
James Foster, A to Z Sports

Overall, Lee is a good-looking athlete with a worker-bee attitude, although his frame and skill set might find him caught in between positions at the next level, limiting his NFL ceiling. He projects best as a reserve base end or three-technique in a four-man line. -Dane Brugler, The Athletic

Lee will likey be an interior defensive lneman in the team's 3-4 scheme. He profiles similarly to current Steeler Isaiahh Loudermilk but with better athletic traits and the chance to develop into a rotational interior pass rusher.

Get to Know Ryan Watts

Overall, Watts has elite size and an outstanding athletic profile, but undisciplined tendencies in his coverage likely will push him to safety in the NFL (he saw safety reps during East-West Shrine Bowl practices). His special-teams potential could help keep him on an NFL roster during his likely position change. – Dane Burgler, The Athletic

Finishing their scheduled picks with another versatile defender, Pittsburgh added three Shrine Bowl players on the final day of the draft, showing the level of talent and draft viability that has become a staple at the pre-draft event.
