The 2024 NFL Draft is in the books, but so many college players are still looking for opportunities in the league. That's where college free agency comes into play, a chance for hundreds of NFL hopefuls to earn their place.

For the Pittsburgh Steelers, college free agents play key roles throughout the offseason process, into OTA's minicamp, and training camp. It should be noted that some players will be invited to rookie minicamp, while others will sign contracts outright.

Follow along as we update the undrafted players signing with the Steelers:

Pittsburgh Steelers 2024 Undrafted free agents

  • Trey Brown, Center, Jacksonville State, (Rookie Minicamp Tryout) per Aaron Wilson
  • Daijun Edwards, RB, Georgia per SportsTrustAdvisors
  • Julius Welschof, EDGE, Charlotte per Mike Kaye
  • Beanie Bishop, DB, West Virginia per WVU Football
  • John Rhys Plumlee, QB, UCF per John Rhys Plumlee
  • Jacoby Windmon, LB, Michigan State, per the team

Trey Brown, C, Jacksonville State

The first of the Steelers' post-draft additions, Brown is not a signed free agent, but he is receiving a shot to complete for a roster spot at the team's upcoming rookie minicamp.

Daijun Edwards, RB, Georgia

The Steelers made their first undrafted free agent addition with the signing of Daijun Edwards, a former Bulldog RB who amassed 880 yards and 13 TDs for the Dawgs in 2023. Likely a camp back, we'll see if Edwards can find his way onto the roster.

Julius Welschof, EDGE, Charlotte

A former Michigan Wolverine who transferred to Charlotte last season, the German native is an athletic marvel at a lean 6-6 and 265 pounds. Proving to be healthy after a season-ending injury in 2023 will be pivotal in his ability to make the team.

Beanie Bishop, DB, West Virginia

More than just a local product that caught the Steelers eye, Bishop has the highest chance of any free agent signed thus far to make the roster given his position and pedigree. Signed to play slot CB, Bishop was recognized as a second-team All-American by the AP last season, along with earning first-team all-conference accolades in the Big 12.

John Rhys Plumlee, QB, UCF

Finally adding a rookie QB, Pittsburgh was going to have to add one for the rookie minicamp if nothing else. A former highly touted QB recruit at Ole Miss, the Rebels moved him to WR which prompted him to transfer to UCF where he led the Knights on the gridiron and the clay, playing baseball and football for UCF.

Jacoby Windmon, LB, Michigan State

An experienced stacked backer who started his career in the desert at UNLV before transferring to Michigan State, Windmon brings experience, toughness and a high floor to the Steelers' LB room.
