It’s Super Bowl week in the NFL, which means that for 30 of the league’s 32 teams, they are full steam ahead into the offseason. The Steelers still have a few hires left to make, but the meat of their staff has come together following the additions of Patrick Graham and James Campen among others.

So today, with the calendar officially turned to February and the draft just months away at this point, we turn to our weekly mock drafts, and we start out hot.

Round 1, Pick 21: Ty Simpson, QB, Alabama

You can tell who really watched Ty Simpson and the Alabama Crimson Tide by the analysis of what he can bring to the NFL. There are two sides to the Simpson story in 2025. The first, is that he was a Heisman hopeful and potential first-round pick who fell off a cliff.

The second, is that despite dealing with the highest pressure rate in the SEC, having no run game behind him, and a No.1 WR who couldn’t catch a cold this year, Simpson led the Tide to not only a CFP birth, but a win.

When he’s on time, he shows the ability to process at a high clip, make throws out of structure, and layer the ball in passing windows. He doesn’t have big-time traits, but he’s a fearless competitor and could learn a lot from Aaron Rodgers.

Round 2, Pick 53: Chris Brazzell, WR, Tennessee

I typically hesitate with Tennessee WRs given the nature of the scheme in Knoxville, but Brazell is scheme-independent. At 6-5 and over 200 pounds with speed and twitchiness, he’s a bonafide No.1 in my opinion, and he can be groomed opposite of DK Metcalf for years to come.

Round 3, Pick 76: Davison Igbinosun, CB, Ohio State

Igbinosun had a nice week at the Senior Bowl, showing off his length and ability to play press man. The Steelers have James Pierre as their CB No.2, and he’s played well, but that unit needs depth. Igbinosun may struggle with some hand-to-hand combat, but he has starter upside.

Round 3: Pick 85: Jacob Rodriguez, LB, Texas Tech

Rodriguez was well known coming into the Senior Bowl after what was a historic season for Texas Tech and him, but he was dominant during the week. He shut down running backs in 1v1’s, and he was making plays on the football in team drills. With questions about Patrick Queen and that inside backer duo, Rodriguez is an ideal mid-round swing.

Round 3, Pick 99: Kage Casey, OT, Boise State

Casey is still a little rough around the edges, but he played both guard and tackle at the Senior Bowl, and I thought he held up well. With questions about the left tackle position and what happens at guard with Isaac Seuamlo hitting free agency, this pick makes a ton of sense in my opinion.
