Omar Khan's first year as the Pittsburgh Steelers' general manager has been very successful. And his already stacked scouting department is getting another valuable addition.

Per NFL insider Aaron Wilson of, the Steelers are hiring former NFL fullback and area scout Zach Crockett to their scouting department.

Crockett first entered the NFL back in 1995, back in the days when fullbacks ruled the backfields. He played nearly years for the Indianapolis Colts, who drafted him in the third round, before being released and ending the 1998 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In 1999, Crockett began an eight-year run with the then-Oakland Raiders, where he would become a critical component to their resurgence under Jon Gruden. He played 125 games for the Silver and Black before the team released him leading up to the 2007 season. Crockett was on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Dallas Cowboys that year, but only played in one game for the former

After his playing days concluded, Crockett re-joined the Raiders as an area scout. He would identify talent in the Southeast region for Oakland over the course of 14 years before the franchise let him go this past February.

Crockett's addition to Pittsburgh’s scouting staff will give them an experienced set of eyes in one of the most talented areas of college football.
