As the pre-draft process starts to pick up, one of the more common mock-drafted positions for the Pittsbugh Steelers is going to be offensive tackle.

Getting serviceable, but not elite play out of Dan Moore and Broderick Jones, the idea is to pair the soon-to-be second-year standout (Jones) with a rookie to hold down your bookends for years to come.

Well, according to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, that's unlikely:

Pittsburgh Set at Tackle?

"Not this year. They [Pittsburgh] have their two starting tackles. Then again, I wouldn't rule anything out," Dulac answered when asked about whether or not backup tackles Spencer Anderson and Dylan Cook would receive a shot to start in his weekly chat on the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. "Dan Moore has been a starter since the first game of his rookie season, and how many LTs can say that?? I can't tell you what their 'infatuation' is, but obviously, they think he is good enough to man the most important position on the offensive line," Dulac wrote in response to a reader questioning the Steelers' infatuation with Moore. "Is he a Pro Bowl LT? No. But is he terrible as you appear to be suggesting? No."

Now, Moore has received his fair share of criticism over the first few years of his Pittsburgh career, but he has performed well above his draft positioning and is an average tackle.

Personally, that wouldn't be enough to dissuade me from taking a first-round tackle in one of the deepest offensive tackle classes in years.

But Pittsburgh only has one first-round pick and currently has a glaring need at the cornerback position opposite of Joey Porter Jr. as we stand here before free agency.

So with over nine weeks until the draft and all of free agency to commence, nothing is set in stone, even if Pittsburgh is seemingly comfortable running it back with the tackle duo from 2023.
