Former first-round pick Dwayne Haskins died Saturday morning, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Haskins was training with teammates in South Florida for the upcoming 2022 season and was stuck by a car, per his agent, Cedric Saunders. The 24-year-old was supposed to turn 25 next month.

Haskins was taken 15th overall by the Washington Commanders in the 2019 NFL Draft and before joining the Steelers roster a couple of seasons later. He was set to compete for one of the Steelers' backup quarterback jobs -and maybe even the starting job- in 2022.

Head coach Mike Tomlin released a statement soon after the news broke.

We will provide updates as they're released.
