The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to be one of the most discussed teams in the league regarding their QB situation.

And with a new report potentially linking them to a Super Bowl champion at signal caller, that noise won't be quieting down anytime soon.

However, Adam Schefter of ESPN has already ruled out one of the top options:

No Kirk Cousins In Pittsburgh

"They're looking, they're absolutely looking, and I would expect at some point they will add one of these guys," Schefter said in regards to a QB on Monday's edition of the Pat McAfee Show on ESPN. "It doesn't feel like they're in an urgent to make a move for Kirk Cousins on day one of free agency and outspend all these guys. I still think they absolutely have hopes for Kenny Pickett, which I think enters into the decision. I do think they will add a QB. I haven't gotten the sense that they were at the Combine in QB meetings to get someone to dislodge Kenny Pickett, so I'm not giving you a specific answer, because right now, I don't think they have a specific answer. I think some of those names you mentioned are more in play than others. I don't expect Kirk Cousins to end up in Pittsburgh, but as far as Ryan Tannehill, Russell Wilson, and Justin Fields, we'll wait and see."

Now this shouldn't come as a surprise, due to financial implications alone. A to Z Sports free agency has Cousins listed as the #1 overall free agent on the market, commanding a contract expected to be around two years, and $80 million, issuing a $40m APY that Pittsburgh can't afford given their current cap situation

On top of that, wherever Kirk goes, he will be starting, and from day one. That's something Pittsburgh isn't looking for as they want to give Kenny Pickett at least one more look before closing that chapter.
