In case you’ve missed it, WR Calvin Austin III returned to practice on Monday, but it was still in a very limited capacity as he’s missed nearly three weeks of practice.

That has led the Steelers to take another peek around the WR market, via both trade and free agency.

And now, the Steelers are bringing back a familiar face on his second visit.

Gabe Davis is visiting the Steelers for the second time

“Former Jaguars and Bills WR Gabe Davis is flying back to Pittsburgh today and is scheduled to visit the Steelers on Tuesday for a second time this off-season, per source,” wrote Adam Schefter on X-Twitter on Monday. “Steelers continue seeking WR help.”

While the Steelers don’t have direct ties to Davis, they are very familiar with his game. During his best season in the NFL back in 2022 with the Buffalo Bills, he started the calendar year off on a tear against the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs.

Davis exploded onto the national scene with eight catches for over 200 yards and four touchdowns in the divisional round.

He would pick up right where he left off when the regular season rolled around, putting up career highs in receiving yards and yards per reception while tying a career best seven receiving TDs.

Part of these stats came against, you guessed it, the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he torched them for 171 yards and two TDs on only three catches.

He first visited back in early June, and some injury concerns made the Steelers stray away. But with only one proven healthy WR in their room, given where Robert Woods is at in this stage of his career, Gabe Davis could offer much-needed help, even with Roman Wilson assuming the WR No.2 role.

Davis would go on to sign a hefty deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars last offseason, but he had a down year in 2024, and the team parted ways with him during their regime change this offseason.

Still, at only 26 years old and a season removed from 700+ receiving yards and 7 TDs, Davis would be a huge upgrade to a playmaking group that desperately needs it.
