If you're going to talk the talk, you better be able to walk the walk.
That's especially true in the NFL, where dirty looks get turned into bulletin board material, much less direct shots.
Well, it may be early, but Pittsburgh Steelers rookie Joey Porter Jr. is backing up his words with his actions, and he just did against one of the best WRs in a generation:
'I Want 10'
“On Tuesday, I went to Coach T and told him, ‘I want 10," [Titans WR DeAndre Hopkins] Joey Porter Jr. told NFL Media's Mike Garafolo after the Titas win. "That’s what I was looking for. I don’t really hide from nothing. I said, ‘That’s the matchup I want, that’s the matchup I need.’”
Hide he did not, and dominate he did:
The Steelers took their time with Joey Porter Jr., opting to stick his toes in the water rather than throw him into the deep end when it came to his NFL exposure.
And while it may have come at the cost of some big plays from the other corners, other than some tackling woes, Peezy Jr, is coming along swimmingly.
Tonight was a big test. D-Hop may be a latter stage of his career, but he was fresh off a 128 yd, three TD game vs the Falcons and star corner A.J. Terrell, showing that arguably the best WR of his generation still has plenty of game left.
So we'll see how Porter continues to develop over the next few weeks, as the dog days of the schedule start to creep in, and the rookie wall looms. Hopefully Porter's acclimation period prevents such situations, but time will tell.
For now, we know he's everything Pittsburgh wanted and then some.
Steelers win vs. the Titans just made NFL history for all the wrong reasons
Here is a look at the record that Pittsburgh just broke.
