It smells of fresh air in the Pittsburgh Steelers world.
Who knows how the 2022 season will turn out, especially with a four-week outlook that features some killer rivals but that seems to matter little right about now.
Today – and likely the rest of the season – will be all about Steelers' Kenny Pickett. If the first-round rookie quarterback plays well, Steelers' faithful will likely be content with where things are going.
That's why fans should be excited about what Mike Tomlin said on gameday about how Pittsburgh's coaching staff would handle Pickett.
"We're not working on a small menu," said Tomlin. You can read the full quote in the tweet below.
You've got to love that mentality for the handling of the rookie. Considering he's been thrown to the wolves in what could be the toughest stretch of the season, why not open things up for him as much as possible?
This Steelers offense has been held back in multiple ways before. Just think back to Mitch Trubisky not being able to call audibles in several situations.
Opening things up for Pickett is the way to go and hopefully, this Steelers' staff means it. We'll get a first look at what the "new" offense looks like against a very tough Buffalo Bills' defense that shut out Lamar Jackson in the second half last weekend.
Whether Pickett's first start reminds us of Ben Roethlisberger's or not isn't what's important. Let's just hope we see an operational offense out there.
