It's hard to believe, but the Pittsburgh Steelers are nearly at the halfway mark of the season.

So what better time than now to review where the team stands.

Here is the player that was turning the most heads through the first half of the season:

LB Cole Holcomb

Holcomb was a pleasant surprise in Pittsburgh during his inaugural season in the black and gold, with both the numbers and intangibles that you want from a starting mike linebacker. The position had been in the thorn of the side of the Steelers prior to his arrival, with Pittsburgh seemingly finding the answer to their problem for at least 2-4 seasons given Holcomb's level of play.

But then came the Titans game, and ensuing news about the rest of Holcomb's season:

So no matter which way you slice it, this one hurts. Holcomb's absence will be felt, even if the man who came into spell him is no slouch and a former Pro Bowler in Kwon Alexander.

Hopefully we get Holcomb back and better than ever next year, as he is just approaching his prime.
