We now know where and when the Pittsburgh Steelers will play their 17 games of the regular season.
What we have to wait and see, is what that regular season will look like in the end.
Let's make some predictions…
Week 1: Steelers at Jets
Steelers win 20-17: Justin Fields faces off against his former team, and the same might be said for Aaron Rodgers. Two defensive-minded head coaches and teams will keep this from being a barn burner, but Rodgers will prevail in the end.
Week 2: Steelers vs. Seahawks
Steelers win 25-22: DK Metcalf plays his first home game against the very team that drafted and traded him this offseason, and he helps bring the Steelers over the top in a big game against his former teammate, CB Devon Witherspoon.
Week 3: Steelers at Patriots
Steelers win 30-20: Pittsburgh starts off hot here, continuing their early-season winning streak against a Patriots team that is still amidst a rebuild. Drake Maye and Mike Vrabel could make things interesting, but I expect Pittsburgh to pull out the W.
Week 4: Steelers vs. Vikings (Ireland)
Steelers lose 14-20: The Vikings are a bit of an unknown given presumptive starter J.J. McCarthy, would technically be a rookie after missing his entire 2024 season with a knee injury. The Vikings have a Super Bowl-caliber roster around him, however, giving the Steelers too much to handle for their first loss of the season.
Week 5: Bye
Week 6: Steelers vs. Browns
Steelers win 30-20: The Browns are amidst a rebuild, and they have one of the more questionable QB rooms in the entire NFL. Kenny Pickett would be a fun matchup for the Steelers defense, but regardless of the signal caller, I expect Pittsburgh to get the job done.
Week 7: Steelers at Bengals (TNF)
Steelers lose 35-30: Cincy is going to come out hot on a short week with one of the best offenses in the entire sport. Their defense is susceptible to letting up a ton of points, but they win a close one in primetime.
Week 8: Steelers vs. Packers (SNF)
Steelers lose 29-25: This has the chance to be a big game for multiple reasons, none of which means more than Aaron Rodgers facing the team he won a Super Bowl with, should he sign. I expect a close one, but the better team to win in the end.
Week 9: Steelers vs. Colts
Steelers win 40-25: I know that the Steelers' loss in Indy left a bad taste in their mouth, given the way things ended on the final drive, and I expect that to be a major factor in their leadup. The Colts simply don't have a great team, and one of the more unknown quarterback situations in the league.
Week 10: Steelers at Chargers (SNF)
Steelers win 22-20: A game of revenge, the Steelers defense will be extra motivated to take it out on Najee Harris after he had some choice words for the franchise on his way out. This will be a defensive battle that Pittsburgh comes out on top of.
Week 11: Steelers vs. Bengals
Steelers lose 33-27: The Steelers could be outclassed by the Bengals this year if Burrow is healthy. It’s a divisional matchup, so you want to believe Pittsburgh will keep it close before they drop to the Bengals.
Week 12: Steelers at Bears
Steelers lose 39-29: The Bears offense has the capacity to average 40 points a game after overhauling the offensive line and signing former Lions OC Ben Johnson to be their head coach with Caleb Williams at quarterback. I don’t expect the Steelers to be able to keep up in this one.
Week 13: Steelers vs. Bills
Steelers lose 40-28: The Bills might finally get over the hump in their Super Bowl aspirations this year, and they boast the league MVP via Josh Allen. It could be a long Sunday afternoon for the Steelers' defense.
Week 14: Steelers at Ravens
Steelers win 23-20: The Ravens and Steelers never disappoint, and outside of the Ravens' domination in the playoffs last season, Pittsburgh has had Lamar Jackson’s number for most of his career. Expect that in this one as well.
Week 15: Steelers vs. Dolphins (MNF)
Steelers win 33-30: The Dolphins aren't exactly a cold-weather team, and that will show in a mid-December contest. I expect a high-flying contest where the Steelers come out on top.
Week 16: Steelers at Lions
Steelers win 22-18: I expect the Lions to take a step back this year. The offense simply won't be the same with offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, even if they are good. That leads the Steelers to a big win late in the season.
Week 17: Steelers at Browns
Steelers win 20-17: At least one matchup between Pittsburgh and Cleveland figures to be close, but anything short of a season sweep of this version of the Browns would be disappointing, even for the 2025 Steelers.
Week 18: Steelers vs. Ravens
Steelers lose 18-16: You can’t win them all, and I fully expect Baltimore to take one from the Steelers in their annual duo of matchups.
Steelers’ final record: 10-7
Look familiar? The truth is, I’m not as bearish on the Steelers as many of the Sportsbooks given their 8.5 win total, but I also don't believe the Steelers are true Super Bowl contenders with Aaron Rodgers, even if they want to be. For that reason, it’s another year of 10-7, but perhaps Pittsburgh gets over the hump in the playoffs.
