Over the next three weeks, nearly every time the Steelers step onto the practice field at Saint Vincent College, they will do so in front of a packed crowd.
And the Steelers tend to play that crowd with a ton of 1v1's and other matchup drills that will be sure to create intrigue on social media…
Battle #1: DK Metcalf vs. Jalen Ramsey
These two are no strangers to each other, once playing multiple times a year as members of the Seattle Seahawks (Metcalf) and Los Angeles Rams (Ramsey). Those matchups also proved to be very entertaining, to say the least…
In an environment that oozes competition, with Mike Tomlin and Steelers coaches constantly stirring the pot, you can bet on these two doing a lot of jawing and having a good time in between.
Battle #2: Kaleb Johnson vs. Patrick Queen
Backs on backers is one of the more popular drills the Steelers run during training camp. And while Jaylen Warren always shines with his ability to stand tall despite his stature, rookie back Kaleb Johnson will be asked to do the same thing against the likes of Cole Holcomb, Payton Wilson, and, of course, Patrick Queen.
The third-rounder will aim to prove why he's not only the back of the future, but the back of the present, and that starts with winning his 1's.
Battle #3: Aaron Rodgers vs. Steelers defense
Seven shots, another staple in Pittsburgh Steelers training camp, will have a different look to it this time around. That's because one of the best there ever was will be the starting quarterback.
There will also be team drills like 11v11 and so on, but the Steelers like to start practice in the high redzone (around the 20-yard line) and give each side of the ball seven shots to either score or defend the offense from scoring. We're going to see real quick how well Rodgers looks against one of the better defenses in the league.
Steelers and T.J. Watt end the training camp distraction before it began after agreeing to historic deal that is a win-win
The best anyone could ask for.
