It;'s a good thing the Pittsburgh Steelers are fresh off a bye week because the next 36 hours are going to be very busy.

With the NFL trade deadline approaching on Tuesday afternoon it's now or never for Pittsburgh to make a long-anticipated acquisition on the perimeter.

Well, per Adam Schefter of ESPN, you can now add another name to your wishlist:

Carolina Panthers WR Adam Thielen.

Steelers Eyeing Adam Thielen?

The Steelers have been making calls and checking on any and all available wide receivers before Tuesday's 4 p.m. ET trade deadline, including the Jets' Mike Williams and the Panthers' Adam Thielen, according to league sources.

While Thielen doesn't provide the sizzle and flash that marquee names like Brandon Aiyuk, Davante Adams, and Cooper Kupp once did, he might be the best of the remaining options when considering his recent history.

Yes he's 34 and coming off the Panthers' injured reserve, but he had over 1000 receiving yards just last year, and that was with, oh yeah, the Panthers. You know, quite possibly the worst team in the league over the past two seasons.

Now, from a long-term standpoint, there is no arguing that the move does little to move the needle. Thielen is undoubtedly a half-a-season rental at this point of the calendar and his career, but if Pittsburgh thinks he's an upgrade over Van Jefferson or Calvin Austin III, then giving up what is sure to be little to no draft compensation should be well worth it.
