The Pittsburgh Steelers have multiple roster moves this morning.

Per the team, Pittsburgh is activating RB Anthony McFarland, and placing LB Cole Holcomb on injured reserve:

Mac Is Back

"Ant Mac" as Coach T calls him, is officially on his way back to the Steelers gameday roster following his activation from the injured reserve.

It may have taken a little longer than some anticipated, seeing as it took nearly two weeks of practice before the could be cleared, but it's better late than never for him and the Steelers' offense. I know some of you are saying, "really a third-string RB is going to make a big difference?"

Yes. Here's why:

Not only is McFarland probably the best kick and punt returner on the team when healthy, but he is definitely the team's best pass-catching running back, adding another element for Matt Canada to tinker with, and yet another wrinkle that defenses have to worry about.

The Steelers even experimented with pony personnel over the summer and in the preseason, which is a personnel package that utilizes two running backs on the field.

McFarland was a staple in that package, with Najee Harris or Jaylen Warren alongside him.

So will it be a big difference? Doubtful.

But anything helps this time of year, especially with an offense that can use all the help it can get.

As for Holcomb, the news comes as no surprise based on the reporting after the game. We wish him the best in his recovery.
