If you watched the Pittsburgh Steelers take it on the shins against the Texans on Sunday, then you likely saw the play where Kenny Pickett was hurt:
Well, according to Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger, it should have never happened:
'I Hated The Play Call'
"I hated the play call," said Roethlisberger on the most recent episode of his podcast Footbhalin With Ben Roethlisberger. "Probably 99.9 percent of Pittsburgh hated the play call. When they called timeout, I thought to myself, okay, it's QB sneak or it's Naj [RB Najee Harris] up the middle because he's been running hard. If you really wanted to get creative with it, sell it like you're going to run it (because everyone's gonna know you're going to run it) and go real hard play action and take a shot up over top. We used to do that on fourth down a lot. And so I'm like those are your options though. It has to be those three things right? And they come out in shotgun, and I'm like, oh, they are going to try and get them offsides or shift [shit into a formation Ben mentioned above]. Nope, they run the play with like a little choice route and I just couldn't believe it."
Now, Big Ben isn't one to mince words on his podcast, having openly taken shots at former GM Kevin Colbert. But when he calls out Canada and his playcalling, it shows just how bad things are.
Why? Canada was Ben's QB Coach during his last few years, with Ben being a huge reference in his ability to garner his current role as OC.
So if the stink of Canada's play-calling has wafted over even to Ben, you know there are problems in Pittsburgh.
