Steeler's Broderick Jones compares Mike Tomlin & Kirby Smart's intensity

Life can come at you fast if you're a rookie in the NFL, especially if you're at Pittsburgh Steelers training camp in Latrobe.

But apparently, Broderick Jones thinks Georgia's camp, and in particular head coach, has a different level than Mike Tomlin.

Well I don't know if Coach T will hear Jones' comments, but the rookie had better hope not:

Broderick Jones: "Coach T is More Mellow"

Jones is only a week into Steelers camp, but apparently, he's seen enough of coach Tomlin to think his intensity could still reach another level:

"We have been here a week now, have you noticed any differences between coach T [Mike Tomlin] and [Georgia HC Kirby Smart] coach Smart?" Nick Farabaugh of Steelers Now asked Jones.

"Yea I think Coach T is a little more…mellow about things you know," answered Jones. "He still gets on you, he still pushes you but the intensity is just not… it doesn't match you know? Coach Smart is always full go, all the time. Coach T is just a little bit more laid back."

Now, I'm just going to chalk this up to inexperience from Jones. I understand Kirby Smart is as intense as they get at all levels of football. That pre-game speech he gave the team before they won back-to-back national championships was legendary.

But Jones may have just awakened the beast that is Mike Tomlin. This is a man known for his "Tomlinisms" and once told a group of defenders:

"You better not blink. You blink, I'll cut your eyelids off."

Vivid imagery used to set off a spark in the focus of his defense, I wouldn't put it past Tomlin to try it (just kidding).

But something tells me Jones will find out just how intense Mike Tomlin is sooner rather than later, as he's not even in midseason form yet.

Steelers’ former safety, team captain Jordan Dangerfield retires from NFL

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a prideful organization that often does right by their players, no matter how high or low they are on the depth chart.  Realizing that football is a people's business, they won't make exceptions if it means harming the roster, but they practice the loyalty they preach.  And following the latest former […]
