It's easy to buy into excuses this time of the year in the NFL

And quite frankly, the league's decision to give the Pittsburgh Steelers three games in just 11 days is far from an excuse, as it just asks for depleted performances.

But don't tell that to Cam Heyward:

Cam Heyward holding everyone accountable amidst brutal three game stretch

"It's what you signed up for. It's football," said Heyward of the three games in 11 days. "No matter who it is. I sign up for everything, and I know everybody in our locker room does. And so when the schedule is made, you just play it. You know, if we have won three, will we be really talking about it? You know, we've had opportunities. It's not like we go into the game and, you know, there's not an opportunity to take advantage of it. It's just in those moments we're not and we got to learn from these mistakes. And, you know, start capitalizing…

"…It's hard. But you know, who said football was easy, and so, you know, we talked about it. If you're a veteran or you're a pro, you know you're taking care of your body tomorrow, but you're also watching film, whether it's this game, or, you know, the opponents, and you know that's how we roll. We don't make excuses. We deal with what we got and we move on."

In fairness to Heyward, the team has no choice but to move on. The Kansas City Chiefs come to town in just three days, and they will look to continue their winning ways at 14-1 as they try and wrap up the #1 spot in the conference.

But having no choice that doesn't make it any easier on the bodies of Heyward in his mid-30s or T.J. Watt's bum ankle or George Pickens' ability to get back from his hamstring injury.

It's the price you pay with life in the NFL, and I'm sure everyone in Pittsburgh would sign up for it all over again.
