After hardly addressing the CB room in the draft, and not exactly making a ton of big veteran additions, the Pittsburgh Steelers are reuniting with an old friend, per Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette:
The move may add to the lackluster CB room and especially help the slot CB or nickel role, but it won't come without some controversy:
Steelers Sign CB Cam Sutton
Sutton, 29, was a third-round draft choice in 2017 who played six seasons and had eight interceptions with the Steelers. He left after the 2022 season to sign a free agent deal with the Detroit Lions.
However, the Lions released him after the 2023 season when he was allegedly involved in a domestic violence case in Florida. Sutton turned himself into Florida authorities after weeks of evading law enforcement. Sutton's initial arrest warrant charged him with a felony, but prosecutors said he was being formally charged with misdemeanor battery. He entered a pretrial diversion program and the state attorney agreed to defer prosecution if Sutton completes the program.
The Lions released Sutton on March 21 after news of the warrant surfaced.

Pittsburgh Steelers GM Omar Khan was asked about a potential reunion around the draft earlier this year, and while he didn't confirm nor deny an interest in Sutton, it was clear that a reunion between he and Pittsburgh was a viable option:
“You know, we’ll see,” Steelers GM Omar Khan told the WDVE Morning Show. “We did meet with Cam [Sutton], I think it was a couple weeks ago. It was more than just about the situation here, we just wanna see how he was doing. We spent six years with Cam, and they were a good six years with Cam. It was a good experience, and obviously, he had an opportunity to go to Detroit – had to make a business decision, but we’ll see. I will say this, I do like the depth we have at the position. You know, there’s some young guys in there that are gonna compete and have a lot of traits to be really good nickel corners, and I really like that group. … We’ll see what the future holds.”
There is potential for suspension from the league even if the legal matter has been handled. The Steelers are expected to sign Sutton to a one-year deal and for the league minimum.
