Cam Heyward has been making the media rounds lately, and he has been nothing short of viral.
After some potent comments on what he thought about Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers, Heyward made sure to send a clear message to the Steelers brass regarding the future of stars in Pittsburgh.
But then he sort of changed his tune regarding the potential acquisition of Rodgers, and some have started to call him out for it…
Chris Canty said Cam Heyward backpedaled recent comments on Rodgers
"Is Cam Heyward a defensive tackle or defensive back? 'Cause I can't tell with the way that he's backpedaling right there with those comments, regarding the cleanup for what he first said about Aaron Rodgers," Canty said on ESPN's unsportmanlike. "You are showing that you are in a state of urgency, which you went on later that week to say…
"That's how the Pittsburgh Steelers should be operating because they are desert-thirsty for a quarterback. So, bro, you don't have to clean that up. It is what it is. Aaron Rodgers is doing you all a disservice, by dragging this thing out. And, oh, by the way, you guys are still an option for him, even though you have made him a priority. That is an embarrassment for the Pittsburgh Steelers. And what Cam Heyward did the other day, I gotta say man, little bit soft."
If you need a debrief, Canty is referring to when Heyward said that he wasn't recruiting Rodgers beyond the fact that he can be the QB of the Steelers…
"I ain't doing that darkness retreat," said Heyward on his podcast. "I don't need any of that crap. Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don't. That simple. That's the pitch. If you want me to recruit, that's the recruiting pitch. You know the Pittsburgh Steelers, if you want to be a part of it, so be it; if you don't, no skin off my back."
But recently, Heyward seemed to have a little bit of a different tone when it came to potentially playing with Rodgers in 2025…
"It would be really cool to have a guy like Aaron Rodgers," Heyward said recently on Good Morning Football.
So maybe he did have a change of heart, but it seems a little extreme to call a guy who plays on the defensive line at All-Pro level "soft" because he changed his stance or had a different take than his original one.
But then again, Canty doesn't have much experience playing defensive line at an All-Pro level.
