Jets Release WR Davante Adams
Jets are releasing WR Davante Adams, per source. The Jets will save $29.9M in salary cap space by releasing Adams. He had no guaranteed money remaining on his contract.

Adams might be 32 years old, but even after being traded to the New York Jets, he still showed he was more than capable of being a number one WR in the NFL, a role he wouldn't need to occupy thanks to George Pickens being in Pittsburgh.
His release comes as no surprise, as Adams had a hefty contract and would have commanded far too much of the Jets' cap space given the current state of the franchise.
Since the official move to release Adams came before the new league year, the Jets won't use a post-June 1st designation. The team will have $8.362 million in dead money, but saves almost $30 million in cash and cap space.

And sure, there is a lot of talk about Adams continuing to team up with Aaron Rodgers, or heading back to the West Coast, but we know he's a fan of Mike Tomlin and would entertain putting on the Black and Gold as long as he's there.
"One hundred percent, I love Mike [Tomlin[," Adams said on the Up and Adams Show in January when asked if he would play for Mike Tomlin. "Anytime you have a coach that's a players coach and you can tell that they've got a way with their guys…those types coaches they always win me over. I've had nothing but respect for him and it's been mutual."
So the Steelers now have an equal playing ground. The move should add an increased level of urgency to the Steelers' looming QB decision.
We'll see if Adams' release creates a domino effect.
