The Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers go way back.

The dominant forces of the 70s, the two franchises have some of the most loyal fans and historic memories of the sport.

And if there was one modern player who symbolized the Steelers mantra and now the Raider way, it's Elandon Roberts who just moved from the former to the latter…

Elandon Roberts agrees to terms with Las Vegas Raiders

Steelers free-agent linebacker Elandon Roberts reached agreement tonight with the Las Vegas Raiders on a one-year, $3 million deal. The deal was negotiated by Drew Rosenhaus.

It became very obvious when the Steelers agreed to terms with former Baltimore Ravens LB Malik Harrison on Monday that Roberts was likely to leave the Steelers. Having reached the end of his two-year contract, the now-former starter will fit like a glove in the Raiders defense.

Primarily a two-down thumper, Roberts is not built for passing downs or sub-package play, making him a bit of a liability in the Steelers' current LB corps. However, with the Raiders losing Robert “Bobby” Spillane to the New England Patriots, Roberts can step into the hammerhead role immediately as a field general and thumper in the Black and Silver. With his instincts and hit power as sharp as ever, a one-year deal at only $3m could be a steal for the Raiders.

It will be on Patrick Queen and Cole Holcomb to fill the leadership void that player with the experience, pedigree, and resume of Roberts. A two-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots, Roberts was the epitome of an old-school, no-nonsense, consummate professional in Pittsburgh.

And while it was probably time to split, it doesn't mean the Steelers won't feel his loss at times during the 2025 season.
