Emeka Egbuka Names Russell Wilson among Top 3 NFL QBs
"I would say Patrick Mahomes because he is doing it at a level where (Tom) Brady did it once," former OSU WR Emeka Egbuka said at last week's NFL Combine. "He is trying to chase him, which is really cool. I am a huge (Seattle) Seahawks fan, so growing up my entire life, Russell Wilson was our guy. He is awesome. Another pick would be Josh Allen. You know, MVP. He is doing everything the right way right now."
Egbuka is a very common pick to the Steelers at 21 in mock drafts. The Steelers need a Z WR that can play alongside George Pickens, do the dirty work over the middle of the field and above all else, bring some character and leadership to the WR room.
"Biggest attribute I was looking to refine in my senior season was my faith in God," said Egbuka when asked why he returned to OSU. "That comes first and foremost before anything on the field. That was the leading factor in deciding to return for my senior year to Ohio State. I spent a lot of time in prayer. I felt like he was leading me back to Ohio State for something bigger than football."
As for how it helps Russell Wilson, the Steelers brass that is in favor of Russ will likley be looking for whatever they can find as a reasoning to keep him around. It's clear that the majority of the staff prefers Justin Fields, who is in pole position right now…
One of the hottest topics around the combine last week was what the Pittsburgh Steelers will do at QB for 2025. Both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson are set to become free agents, and the team is only expected to attempt to retain one of the two. Nearly everyone in Indianapolis believes the team prefers to extend Fields and let Wilson walk. But they also think signing Fields to a new deal won't prevent the Steelers from doing their homework on the QBs in this year's draft class. It's not out of the question that the Steelers retain Fields and draft a QB with a valuable pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

We'll see if Egbuka's input is enough to sway the Steelers in the final days before free agency.
