George Pickens was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers because he has all the talent in the world and a franchise lauded for drafting WRs knew as much.
But he was also drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers because 31 other teams had a chance to grab him, yet they all passed, and many of them did twice before he landed in Pittsburgh on draft night.
That had little to do with his talent, and much to do with his character concerns, which have shown up at times this season.
Well, another talented, yet wild card in terms of character just decided to give Pickens some advice:
AB's Advice To George Pickens:
"So now you have to play smarter, you have to be willing to learn different positions and you have to be quarterback-friendly," Former Steelers Pro Bowl WR Antonio Brown said on Twitter-X Spaces on Tuesday. "I advise GP to go talk to Pickett, go talk to Tomlin, go talk to the offensive coordinator and have a play so when stuff breaks down or the game is not going well, you can still be involved to do what you desire to do and that helps the team win. So it just all starts with leadership, communication and being on the same page with the people around you because you're only as good as the people around you."
Well, I don't know about you, but that went a lot better than one could have expected from Antonio Brown.
Easily one of the best players to ever play the position, prime Antonio Brown was a surefire Hall of Famer but the character concerns that cropped up after his time in Pittsburgh may keep him over 1000 miles away from Canton, no matter how good he was on the field.
And George Pickens is a long way off from the heights that AB experienced in this league, but he's only 22 years old, and clearly has a ceiling that can rival the best of AB's tenure in the black and gold.
But right now, Pickens is more known for his behavior on the sideline, and his antics on social media compared to his play on the field.
So it sounds crazy to say, but hopefully AB's words don't fall on deaf ears here. Brown could have used his own advice during his playing career, but at least he's using his mistakes to help the next generation of Steelers wideouts.
