That much was proven last week when they took down the New York Jets as underdogs, but it leads to the other side of the coin against the New York Giants this week.
That would be the letdown effect that Steelers fans know all to well about when the team is a home favorite.
And that is the exact scenario that Pittsburgh faces this week, with Adam Holt of A to Z Sports helping explain how Pittsburgh can avoid falling into the trap:
Q. New York Giants HC Brian Daboll is sticking by Daniel Jones as his starter this week in Pittsburgh. Do you think that’s the right decision?
A. I think it’s a bit of a lose-lose situation at QB for the Giants. Backup Drew Lock will not give the offense a better chance to succeed most likely, but there is growing frustration with Jones inside the fan base. The main reason to make a change could be to make sure that the front office can move on from Jones during the upcoming offseason. If he gets seriously injured, that whole situation gets much cloudier for New York.

Q. Malik Nabers returned last week after entering concussion protocol. He was largely held in check against Philly despite going scorched Earth in his first four NFL games. Do you think Pittsburgh should just mirror and match with Joey Porter Jr., or devote more attention to Nabers?
A. If i’m the Steelers, I’d mirror Porter Jr. with Nabers, certainly. That being said, there should be extra attention on him from the safety position by Pittsburgh. Darius Slayton is the only other real downfield threat for the Giants offense, but that connection has been incredibly inconsistent. Jalin Hyatt is a burner, but he can’t get on the field for whatever reason. The Steelers’ biggest focus should be keeping the top on Nabers while their elite DL makes life horrific on Jones.

Q. The season is on the line for the New York Giants. We know what has come from "Offseason Hard Knocks" and at 2-5, the writing is on the wall for this regime. Do you think they start a midseason push, or do the Steelers end their season on Monday night? Lets hear your final prediction.
A. Pittsburgh ends the Giants’ season in Week 8. New York’s weak secondary has come to light over the past few weeks, and they lack big play ability on offense. With an offensive line that continues to get beat up with injuries, I simply don’t see any way that NYG will slow down T.J. Watt and the rest of an aggressive defensive unit that had Aaron Rodgers shaking in his boots last weekend. Final Score: Steelers 27, Giants 13.
