Pittsburgh Steelers officially make the running back move you could see coming from a mile away in NFL free agency
All of the talk surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers relates to the massive WR trade they just made and what they will do at the quarterback position. Rightfully so, but there are a lot of other holes to fill on their roster, and one of them is the RB position. Well, at least one of their […]
All of the talk surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers relates to the massive WR trade they just made and what they will do at the quarterback position.
Rightfully so, but there are a lot of other holes to fill on their roster, and one of them is the RB position.
Well, at least one of their core duo will officially be back in 2025…
Steelers Tender RB Jaylen Warren
The #Steelers placed the second-round restricted tender on RB Jaylen Warren, per his agents David Canter and Ness Mugrabi of Aura Sports Group. It's worth $5.346 million.

The writing was on the wall for nearly a month, when Warren was first reported to receive the tender and then GM Omar Khan openly admitted as much at the 2025 NFL Combine.
What is interesting, however, is the tender the Steelers used on Warren. It was believed that they may use a right of first refusal tender, which would grant the Steelers the right to match any offer sheet that Warren may have received.
Instead, the Steelers have taken out any such possibility.
My belief all along was that Jaylen Warren would get a second round RFA tender instead of a right of first refusal one. It now guarantees he will return because no team will sign him to an offer sheet with a second round pick in play.

Now for the real question. What does this mean for Najee Harris? The answer is probably not much. Pittsburgh could have re-signed him for months now, and they all but made their decision on his future when they declined his fifth-year option at a mere $6.79m last year.
Expect him to hit the open market, and potentially sign with a new team shortly after the legal tampering period begins at noon on Monday.
