If you were watching the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. the Baltimore Ravens down the stretch, then perhaps your heart dropped when Gunner Olszewski nearly gave the game away:
Well, Joey Porter Jr. saved both he and the Steelers with what came next, something Gunner acknowledged after the game:
'I'm Waiting For That Little Gift'
“I’m waiting for that little gift. He just said he’s got my back, and I told him I’ve always got his," Joey Porter Jr. told reporters after saying that Gunner Olszewski told him he owed Porter Jr. big time after getting him off the hook for his fumble with the miraculous interception:
Easily the most memorable play of his early career in Pittsburgh, Porter Jr. showed up in a big-time scenario, against one of the league's more popular wide receivers, turning the game on it's head after it looked like all the momentum had shifted in Baltimore's favor.
And what did he do with the ball you ask?
Now maybe that was a gift to get him some more playing time, something that has been a hot topic, but may as well be cemented after that play, and with what Coach T told the media after:
“[Joey] Porter's been playing increasingly more with each passing week and I've been really transparent about the inclusion of all the rookies," Tomlin told reporters. "Oftentimes we start with a good foundational plan in terms of how they participate and we grow from there. He's done a solid job with the work given him. And so today he got more. He did a nice job with the work he was given today.”
I think JPJ has proven he's not "just another rookie" however, meaning we should expect an even bigger role for him when Pittsburgh comes out of the bye week.
Steelers’ George Pickens was pleasantly ‘surprised’ on game-winning TD
Here is what the budding star had to say about the big play vs. Baltimore.
