The connection between Pittsburgh Steelers QB Kenny Pickett and WR George Pickens is starting to heat up,

The two became tight over the summer, and it showed up when Diontae Johnson was sidelined.

But even in his return, Pickens still touched triple digits on Sunday. Kenny Pickett just explained why:

Communication

“I think we mesh really well together," Pickett told reporters. "Personally … just where we’re very honest with each other on the field and … calling things like when we see it. You know, we’re on the same page. The communication off the field is awesome and on the sideline, he tells me what he sees, I tell him, and then we go out there and we execute. And you know, I always want to give him opportunities. I’ve been preaching that since I got here. He’s a guy that if he’s one-on-one, he’s gotta get the football. He’s too good of a player not to give those opportunities to. Just want to continue doing that, continue to give him and Diontae (Johnson) as many opportunities as we can to help us win games. You know, if we do that, I think we’ll be successful.”

I did a whole feature after the Rams game where I broke down the back-shoulder pass that has become nearly unguardable with this duo.

And while the play has its critics, it only works at such a high rate when the passer and receiver are as in sync as Pickett and Pickens.

So for all the noise that surrounds George Pickens, 99% of the time, he's where he's supposed to be, when he's supposed to be there, which is the golden rule of QB-WR relationships.

And with these two only in their second year together, as Pickens continues to develop his route running, the duo will continue to take the league by storm, with their communication as a catalyst in their success.
