Steelers Roster under major construction after Van Jefferson, and Larry Ogunjobi departures
The Steelers have already lost nearly 33 percent of their starters from the 2024 season opener in free agency — Justin Fields, Najee Harris, Van Jefferson, Dan Moore, Larry Ogunjobi, Elandon Roberts and Donte Jackson.

Now, Van Jefferson wasn't exactly a playmaker for the Steelers, and between the DK Metcalf trade, the hopeful emergence of Roman Wilson and the NFL Draft, his loss in services shouldn't be felt too much. The same might not be able to be said for Larry Ogunjobi and his signing with the Buffalo Bills, however.
The Steelers decided to part ways with Ogunjobi to start the legal tampering period, signaling the end of a solid tenure in Pittsburgh. Larry O provided a suitable interior pass rush, but he was starting to struggle against the run by the end of the 2024 season.
For the Bills, he doesn’t need to be a star, just serviceable. With Rousseau inked for years to come and the splash of Joey Bosa, getting Ogunjobi back in a 4-down defense and with help on the edges brings him closer to his dominant days with the Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns.
But the bigger story here is the Steeler's loss in Najee Harris and Justin Fields. No pieces of this proverbial roster loss pie will be missed more than those two, especially given the state of the Steelers QB search right now.
What Khan and Co. have left up their sleeve is unknown, but this team is going to look very different come the fall.
