Per Mike Garafolo of NFL Media, the Steelers are moving Matt Canada from the press box to the sideline. Here's why that matters:
What It Means
This is still surprising to me, because not only is an admittance that things simply aren't working on offense, but it's also in-season change, two things that Pittsburgh almost never does.
So will it make a big difference? Probably not. In fact, from a pure play-calling standpoint, it will make things even more difficult since Canada won't have the All 22 view from above that he usually does.
But what the move does do, is bring the team closer together, particularly Kenny Pickett and Matt Canada.
The interactions between series will be more efficient, and the tenor of the team will be easier to understand, which in a game played by Humans and built on relationships and trust, matters a lot.
So we'll see the impact it has, but change is here Steelers fans, even if it's not what you may be hoping for.
