The Pittsburgh Steelers have dealt with a plethora of injuries to their startibg offensive line, with Sunday's loss against the Indianapolis Colts being the latest in a line of attrition.
Following the loss of starting guard James Daniels to a season-ending Achilles injury, the team is down to starters on the right side of their line between he and rookie Troy Fautanu.
Their latest move aims to help change some of their health woes:
Steelers sign guard Max Scharping
A second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Scharping started his career with the Houston Texans before joining the Cincinnati Bengals in 2022 and 2023, a tenure that allowed the Steelers to get their eyes on him.
An experienced player with 79 games and 33 career starts under his belt, the Steelers value the play of young players Spencer Anderson and Mason McCormick, but the move adds a veteran depth piece to a line that was growing weary.
Luckily for Pittsburgh, they should be getting some help from Isaac Seumalo, who Mike Tomlin expects to return at an increased capacity during practice this week.
