Mike Tomlin gives a clear 'line of demarcation' regarding discussions between Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers

The NFL Draft is less than a month away, and the Pittsburgh Steelers still don't have a starting quarterback on their roster (well, unless it's Mason Rudolph).
And while many have mentioned that date (April 24th) as a deadline for the Steelers QB decsion, the truth is there is no deadline for Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers.
But there is a line of demarcation, according to Mike Tomlin…
Mike Tomlin names training camp as finality in Aaron Rodgers' decision…
“Not to my knowledge," Mike Tomlin told a group of local media at the 2025 NFL owners meetings when asked if there is a deadline on an Aaron Rodgers decision. "I don't know that we've approached it from a deadline perspective. Certainly as I mentioned, you'd like to have settled circumstances, but deadlines don't often bring that to a head. I really wanted to spend more of our time [during recent visit] just getting to know him better and things that he values as a player and a man and what he might be looking for with his next stop…
"…Training camp would kind of be a line of demarcation in terms of that discussion."
Training camp is a long way away. If the Steelers go until the doorstep of August and their only quarterbacks on the roster are Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and insert the name of some rookie (Jalen Milroe, Jaxson Dart), they will be asking for their first losing season in nearly two decades.
And that's why they are all in on Aaron Rodgers. So much so, that some executives in the league think that the Steelers and Rodgers may already have a "handshake deal" in place…
“The Pittsburgh Steelers do remain optimistic. Based on everything I’m hearing, they are willing to wait this out," said Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. "And a lot of people I’ve talked to in the quarterback market, some sources close to Jameis Winston’s process, Russell Wilson, etc. They believe that Rodgers must have some sort of assurance from the Steelers, or vice versa, that they could end up together…
"They’ve already talked contract potential parameters, he visited with the team. … So does he continue to wait until closer to the draft, or do they come to some sort of agreement [before that]? It appears that nothing is imminent right now, and you can expect the unpredictable with Aaron Rodgers."
