They say revenge is best served cold, and that's exactly what newly acquired Baltimore Ravens WR Diontae Johnson is looking to do against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a mid-Novemeber showdown.
But ever since trading for the former Pro Bowler, Johnson has yet to really make an impact for Baltimore.
Well, Mike Tomlin made sure to let everyone know as much during his weekly presser on Tuesday:
Mike Tomlin not worried about playing Diontae Johnson
"To be honest with you, I hadn't thought a lot about it," said Tomlin when asked about facing Diontae Johnson for the first time. "He's not on a lot of their video, and so at this stage of the week, I don't know that I've weighed what he might mean to the matchup. They got more significant pieces with larger roles that are occupying my attention at this part of the week."
That may come off as a shot from the Steelers HC, but frankly, it's the truth. In fairness to Johnson, it's only been two weeks since he was traded from the Carolina Panthers, but he has a grand total of one reception for six yards.
And maybe that's a part of the Ravens' plan. Slowly but surely working Johnson into the mix ahead of his homecoming, where he is looking to get over on the team that drafted him and traded him away.
But as Mike Tomlin alluded to earlier in his presser, there are a litany of other options that are occupying more of his and DC Teryl Austin's attention:
"Zay flowers is a spectacular at wild out," said Coach Tomlin. "Obviously, I'm really familiar with Zay. Man, I saw just about every game he played this last year in college because my son was on his team. And man, his talents are special. His ability to separate, his run after [the catch] his competitive spirit, his general playmaking. He can make plays in a lot of ways. They distribute the ball to him in a lot of ways."
So we'll see if and when Johnson gets involved, but right now it's not at the front of Mike Tomlin's mind.
