There has been a lot of chatter about the future of the Pittsburgh Steelers lately.

Who should start at QB? How much longer does this group have together? And is Mike Tomlin still the right man for the head job if they lose to the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday?

Well according to one former NFL scout, the answer is no, and the Steelers should be happy with that…

Steelers Could Receive Top-10 Pick for Mike Tomlin?

"I don't know if I articulated it well enough when I say that Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers should get a divorce, " said former NFL scout John Middlekauff on his 3 & Out Podcast. "Like, it's time. I'm not saying Mike Tomlin should go on the unemployment line. You would trade Mike Tomlin. Mike Tomlin is a tradable asset. Someone that you might be able to get, like, a first-round pick and a second-round pick for. I don't know how anyone can watch the Pittsburgh Steelers and think like, 'oh, they're making progress.' Yet, Mike's value is really high…

"…You know what the Chicago Bears would do for Mike Tomlin? Would you part ways with your top 10 pick? I would sure think long and hard about it. Because these five and six-win seasons, no matter how much talent you have, suck. And the one thing you know, Mike basically guarantees you, (which is no longer  good enough for the Steelers) winning 9-10 games and never going under 500. You know what the Chicago Bears would do to just every year go 10-7? So would they trade their first round pick? I would, I mean, I would immediately."

It was well reported on Sunday that the Steelers would likely get calls regarding the status of Coach Tomlin. Would they say yes? Probably not. But if a team, like the Bears, or whoever else is picking in the top 10 came calling and offered up that kind of capital, Art Rooney would need to think long and hard about saying no.

“I think there are going to be teams out there that have watched the way that the Pittsburgh Steelers season has ended and wonder whether they should call the Steelers to see if they should inquire about whether the Steelers would be willing to move on from Mike Tomlin and move him to another organization," said NFL insider Adam Schefter on ESPN's Sunday NFL countdown.

"…I don’t think Pittsburgh will do that. That’s not what they’ve been about and there’s no indication that they would. But I do think there are teams wondering if they should lob in a call just to see if they could stir Pittsburgh’s interest.”
