Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth calms the nerves of those concerned that Aaron Rodgers and his pass catchers won't have chemistry

While the hype was huge surrounding Aaron Rodgers last week, some still seem to believe his missing of voluntary workouts will harm the chemistry of the team.

The team doesn't gather as a unit for over a month, and last week's mandatory minicamp was essentially a glorified walkthrough.

But that doesn't mean Rodgers and his pass catchers won't be working over summer break, and it doesn't mean the team won't be firing on all cylinders come the season…

Pat Freiermuth doesn't foresee chemistry issues with Aaron Rodgers

“I’m sure he’ll want to work out with us and get to know us more and do what most organizations do in the offseason," Freiermuth told the media at minicamp last week. "Skill position guys get together, so I’m looking forward to that. It should be good…

"…There’s more than enough time. It’s just more so us getting caught up to what he does and him getting caught up to what we do as an offense. There’s a lot of time between now and September, whenever our first game is. We’ve got plenty of time to build that chemistry."

I know that there is an idea that you need all the reps you can get when a new quarterback joins a team. And that is certainly valid to a degree. Not when the quarterback in question is a future first-ballot Hall of Famer.

Not when his top two pass-catching options are veterans among the top of their positions in Pat Freiermuth and DK Metcalf. Not when your offensive coordinator once coordinated an offense to a game within a Super Bowl, and is close with Aaron Rodgers' former Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.

Not to mention Rodgers mentioned last week that he would be recruiting guys to come to California with him…

"I do. I just gotta try and convince them to come out to Malibu, California," Rodgers said with a joking tone last week. "It's gonna be a tough sell, I think."

So there is plenty of time to do what coaches call install and instill. Install their offense and instill their culture.

We'll see what that looks like with Rodgers as the focal point.
