They say you never forget your first.

And for Pittsburgh Steelers rookie LB Payton Wilson, that is undoubtedly true after he turned the tides back in the Steelers' favor with one of the more miraculous interceptions you will see this season:

Payton Wilson Makes Up for Russell Wilson

If you watched the game, then you know that FG in the above situation likely would have iced the game given the intensity of the Steeler's defense, even with over nine minutes remaining.

Instead, in what was easily the worst play of what has been an otherwise flawless early tenure in Pittsburgh, QB Russell Wilson put one on a silver platter for Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey and seemingly shifted the momentum in the Baltimore Raven's favor.

Until Payton Wilson got involved that was:

"Man we were talking all week, he [Payton Wilson] and I about his matchup with 43 [Ravens RB Justice Hill]," said Mike Tomlin after the game when asked about the Payton Wilson interception. "He's a pass situation LB, we knew they were going to go at him, and so we worked him all week to be prepared for that matchup. Payton [Wilson] did nice job in game by communicating and not blinking and understanding the urgency of that matchup and that's why he was successful. I think you create your own fortune sometimes when you're locked in, and he was locked in, and very cognizant of the challenge and rose up to meet it."

With his inception to one of the best rivalries in the sport, the rookie was likely to never forget what happened regardless of the outcome, but he surely won't after taking away a completion that could have ended up giving the Ravens a W.

Expect Payton Wilson's confidence to only grow as he enters the meat of the AFC North schedule, with the Cleveland Browns on tap during a short week.
