The Pittsburgh Steelers desperately need another WR, no matter how many points they have put up the last two weeks.
Many hoped it would come via a trade, and it still could following the latest news surrounding Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp.
But some hoped that rookie Roman Wilson would assume the number two role opposite George Pickens.
But as we approach the midway point of the season, Wilson has played only five snaps, as according to Mike Tomlin, he's simply not ready:
Roman Wilson trying to hop on a moving train
"No, um, you know, he missed some practice time because of the hammy," said Mike Tomlin when asked if Roman Wilson missed the New York Jets game because of a hamstring injury that limited him in last week's practice. "And as we've talked repeatedly in this setting, Roman needs to work for me to really consider him, his participation got compromised some last week, and so really, once it got compromised, I moved on."
Wilson has been active one time all year, and when he made his debut against the Las Vegas Raiders, he was allocated a mere five snaps. And while Wilson dealt with an ankle injury in camp, he was out of his booty and practicing around Week 1 and 2 but was still held out.
So it's clear that despite the fact he plays a position of need, there is no rush from Coach Tomlin to start the rookie wideout until he shows he's capable of contributing at a high level in practice.
