Steelers QB Russell Wilson may have just lost a lot more than the game against the Ravens

For better or worse, the QB position comes with a lot of credit when you win, and a lot of blame when you lose.
And for the most part, since joining the Pittsburgh Steelers, Russell Wilson has rightfully taken credit for a lot of the winning.
Yet despite a stellar game for the majority of Saturday afternoon, Wilson had two plays that left the Steelers with back-to-back losses, and a lot of decision-makers probably shaking their heads.
Russ Turns the ball over twice in loss to Ravens
One of the main attractors for HC Mike Tomlin when it came to acquiring Russell Wilson was his ball security. No matter what you thought of his time with the Denver Broncos, Wilson has always understood that the ball is the most important part of the offense.
But on Saturday, after reeling off a huge scramble, instead of using the baseball skills that led him to being an MLB draft pick and deciding to slide, Wilson fought for extra yards and lost the battle in the end:
Wilson would go on to settle in, making the most of his weaponry along the perimeter. He had big-time throws to Calvin Austin III and a great TD pass on a ball to Cordarrelle Patterson.
But just when the Steelers received a glimmer of hope following Minkah Fitzpatrick's first INT of the season in the most opportune of times, Wilson decided to throw the worst pass of his Steelers tenure:
These two plays obviously weighed heavily on the outcome of the game but they are the kind of acts that will give the Steelers front office, or any franchise cause for pause.
Russell Wilson isn't exactly coming off the best two years of his career, he isn't getting any younger and he's in the final year of his contract. And yes, he has played remarkably well, especially for most of Saturday's game without George Pickens.
But he can never be the reason the Pittsburgh Steelers lose a game. Not Russ, and not on a team that operates on the thinnest of margins offensively, whether they have George Pickens or not.
So maybe last week's game against the Philadelphia Eagles and Saturday's game against the Ravens were just a result of good defenses taking advantage of a banged up Steelers WR room.
But one time is a fluke, two times is cause for concern and three times is a habit. We'll see if Wilson can right the ship.
